What is Senile Vaginitis ?
As the name suggests, it is the inflammation of the vagina seen in the post menopausal women.  

What is the cause of Senile Vaginitis ?
In the menopausal age group, due to the estrogen dificiency, tha vaginal epithelium becomes thin & atrophic. This also makes it more prone to infections.

What are the symptoms of Senile Vaginitis ?
The vagina is dry & scaly. The lining may get excoriated. Increased frequency of urination, burning at the time of passing urine are common accompaniments. At times one may also have blood stained discharge.

What is the treatment ?
Since senile vaginitis is caused by estrogen deficieny; hence it is treated by replacement of the same. vaginal pessary or cream containing Ethinyl estradiol is used.
